KORU-KIRIHAU NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The searchlight displays given by H.M.S. Dunedin on Monday and Wednesday nights were clearly visible from the Koru-Kirihau district, and were viewed with great interest by many settlers. The beams were seen at their best when focussed upon the clouds, but from the higher ground at Kirihau a particularly fine view was obtainable. Following its usual procedure, the Koru school committee decided at its last meeting to call a meeting of householders to arrange the annual school picnic. Mr. Proffit presided over a good attendance. Mr. M. Sharpe was appointed secretary. It was decided to hold the picnic in Mr. J, Payne’s paddock, with the hall close by to be used in the event of wet weather. Residents of Kirihau have decided not to hold a picnic this year. The Koru School grounds are showing a greatly improved appearance consequent upon the committee's working bee. Mr. F. Proffit cut the long grass which was stacked by the other members of the committee. Mr. and Mrs. H. Ward have returned from a brief holiday at the seaside.
