MARCH ADVANCES DECLARED BENEFIT OF exchange negatived. CHEESE LESS THAN FOR JANUARYThough the exchange rate between New Zealand and London has since Jan “ ary 20 allowed a premium of £24 per cent, to the New Zealand exporter instead of £8 10s per cent, ruling before that date the return to the dairy farmer during March will be practically the same as it was during January before the use became effective. , At the beginning of each month the amount which is to be advanced to New Zealand dairy farmers for butter and cheese is announced by an association of importers in Great Britain, and on that advance the “pay-outs or the companies depend. The advances declared on January 1 for the month or January were 7Jd for finest grade butter and for finest and first grade cheese, with correspondingly lower figures for the lower grades. As a result of the rise in the exchange rate the advances were raised from January 20, the figures being 8d for finest butter and 43d for finest and first grade cheese. These advances ruled throughout February also. The advances for March have just been announced. Owing to the continued fall in prices they are now 7td for finest grade butter and 3Jd for finest and first grade cheese. In the case of butter this is the same as at January 1 and in the case of cheese it is a farthing lower.
