PLAY IN LOWER GRADES. THREE SENIOR B 2-POINT WINS. Waitara, New Plymouth and Old Boys secured two-point wins in the Senior B competition on Saturday, and the position at the head of the table remains unchanged. Only one junior match was played, Old Boys beating High. School. SENIOR B PLAY RESULTS. CLOSE MATCH AT WAITARA. Waitara beat Central by five runs on the first innings. Waitara made 73 (X Maudsley 18, Pizzey 15, Taylor 11, Ellul 10) against the bowling of Baldwin (four for 10), Goldsbury (three for 23) and Stephens (two for 13). Central lost eight wickets for 47, but the ninth added 21 runs and left the team with five run* to make for a first innings lead. last wicket fell without any addition, Davison made 21, Chapman 17 not out and Ramshaw 13. T. Ewens took fiver for 22 and Pizzey three for 15. In a second innings Waitara scored 89 in 10 overs for the loss of three wickets, M. Ewens’ 64 including five sixes and five fours. > MATCH ALMOST COMPLETED. Old Boys beat High School by 29 runs on the first innings. Old Boys totalled 125 (Wallace 29 not out, Allen 28, Sorenson 20), Davis taking three for 40, McIntyre two for 24 and Keller two for 27. School’s 96 included Anstis 22, Wilson 14, Smith 14 and Weston 12, Wallace taking five for 20 and Sorenson two for 18. Sorenson compiled 56 of Old Boysf second innings total of 104, Brown adding 17 and Allen 10. Davis secured four for 42. High School had 134 to make to win and lost seven wickets for 35 before stumps were drawn (Weston 12, Pruden four for 13, P. Allen three for 14). . NEW PLYMOUTH’S EASY WIN. New Plymouth beat Western Park on the first innings by 83 runs. Park had first strike for 84 runs, Darby scoring 26, Barnes 22 and Rutherford 11. Kinsella took five for 31 and Autridge three for seven. New Plymouth passed that score for the loss of two wickets, Clarke (55) and Ferry (41) adding 73 for the second wicket. Clegg added 10 and Laurence 16 retired, and Des Forges 13 not out put on 29. for the last wicket, the innings closing at 167. Rutherford took four for 33 and Derby two for 18. Western Park made 42 for the loss of three wickets, all to Kinsella for 10 runs, before stumps were drawn. Rennie and Ford were each 13 not out.
