MAULED BY WOUNDED TIGER
CALCUTTA POLICEMAN INJURED. ANIMAL LEAPS UPON ELEPHANT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Calcutta, Feb. 14. Sergeant Adams, of the Calcutta police, was severely mauled by a tiger and his condition is critical. He accompanied Sir John Anderson, Governor of Bengal, on a tiger hunt at Jalpaiguri. A tiger was sighted, shot, and wounded. It leapt at the elephant upon which Sergeant Adams was seated, and the startled animal threw Sergeant Adams, who fell on ‘ the tiger, which savagely attacked him before it was dispatched by a well-aimed shot.
