SUGGESTIONS FOR RELIEF
SPECIAL DEBATE NOT POSSIBLE. INFORMAL CONFERENCE URGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. " Wellington, Last Night. In view of the seriousness of the unemployment position, Mr. A. S. Richards (Lab., Roskill) asked in the House of Representatives to-day whether the Government would set aside a- day .this week to enable the House to discuss ways and means of giving relief. The Primp Minister said such a course would not be possible this week. There Md been several discussions bn the unemployment problem, but it seemed nothing practical had eventuated. He considered it would be better if members arranged to confer with the Minister, of Employment with the object of discussing informally whether anything could be done. It was more likely helpful suggestions would be forthcoming under such circumstances.
