NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH MEETS. .• ■ • '■ -■ . The New Plymouth branch of the Plunket Society held its monthly' committee meeting at Plunket House ;on Monday. There were present Mesdames Walter Weston (presiding), C. E. Roebuck, W. B. Hosking, W. R. Wade, F. H. Moore, T. Wilson, J. H. Boon, A. Strang, K. F. Kirk, G. W. Haughton and W. J. Ewart and the honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs. C. S. Mayer. . The resignations of Mesdames C. E. Williams and F; H. Chapman, members of the committee, were received with regret . ' The nurses’ report for the month of January was: Number of babies on the books, 480; new' for the month, 266; visits to homes, 250; visitors to rooms, adults 471, babies 377, older childr’n, 1266; advice given on domestic hygiene, 109; advice to expectant mothers, 12; expectant mothers still under supervision, 28; older children under supervision, 300; letters writen and received, 42; telephone calls, 277. Waitara: Four visits, 60 old babies, six new. Inglewood: Three visits, 8S old babies, four; new. Urenui: Two visits, 26 old . babies. Coastal district: Three visits, five new 'babies. ;. : Nurse Petersen gave a summary of the work done by. the nurses during December and January. One child was placed in the Home of Compassion, Wellington; another had weeks of treatment in tile Karitane hospital, Wanganui; and the life of a third was saved by its hurried removal to public hospital The sum of £lO was voted to the Wanganui Stewart Karitane Hospital as the branch’s quota towards the annual maintenance expenses of the' hospital. Mesdames L. Curtis, E. B. Davies, W. J. Ewart and H. P. Gray ..will arrange flowers at Plunket House from February 20 to March J 7. Those mothers who have been contributing to the Better Baby Club fund are to be entertained by the nurse at Plunket House on February 23. A marquee for the use of mothers and babies will be provided at the showgrounds during the Taranaki autumn show.
