Insistent reports of Union Government proposals are being considered by Mr. R B. Bennett, Prime Minister, and the Liberals to-day. It was announced that a new national platform would be proclaimed shortly. It will call for allround tariff reductions, the abolition of Mr. Bennett’s super tariffs and dumping duties and valuation for duty purposes, and a national non-partisan committee on unemployment.
