Patrick Duggan, aged 38, , an alleged associate with confidence tricksters, claiming to be an Australian, was sentenced at Old Bailey to 18 months’ hard labour for conspiring with Patrick Brennan to steal £6OO from Mr. George Robinson, a visitor from New Zealand, who has now returned. _ Mr. Robinson became acquainted with Brennan aboard the steamer, and subsequently met Duggan. ‘ He sought the police after the two confederates had developed the usual plot involving each man producing £6OO as his bona fldes prior to sharing a mythical fortune.
