WAREA TENNIS TEAM BEATEN. A team from the Warea Tennis Club visited the Pungarehu courts on Saturday. After some very close and interesting contests Pungarehu emerged winners by 12 sets to 9. Following are particulars of the games, Pungarehu names being mentioned first:— Ladies’ Singles: Miss C. Brophy lost to Miss N. Wells 4—7; Miss I. Gray lost to Miss J. Lewis 4—7; Miss M. Brophy lost to Miss M. Sole 2—7; Miss L. Gilhooly beat Miss R. Wells 7—l; Mrs. Priest lost to Miss M. Doyle 3—7. Men’s Singles: J. Priest beat O. Lewis 7—2; W. Walsh beat H. Wells 7—3; T. Brophy lost to R. Payne 6 —7; T. Kira beat L. Wells 7—l; C. Kira beat W. Hanright 7—o; T. Gilhooly beat V. Hopkinson 7 —5. Ladies’ Doubles: Misses C. Brophy and I. Gray lost to Misses N. Wells and J. Lewis 3—7; Misses M. Brophy and L. Gilhooly beat Misses R. Wells and M. Sole 7—3. Men’s Doubles: J. Priest and T. Brophy lost to O. Lewis and H. Wells 3—7; W. 'Walsh and C. Kira beat W. Hanrignt and V. Hopkinson 7—2; T.' Kira and T. Gilhooly lost to R. Payne and L. Wells 2~7. „ , Combined Doubles: Miss C. Brophy and J. Priest beat Miss N. Wells and O. Lewis 7—3; Miss I. Gray and T. Kira beat Miss M. Doyle and V. Hopkinson 7—3. The Pungarehu school grounds are in fine order. There is a wonderful array of flowers and the tennis lawns are very fine. The change in the appearance of these grounds during the past few years has been very great and the school has won second place for the Cuthbert Shield.
