ALLOCATION TO WANGANUI NEW PLYMOUTH’S CHANCE NEXT. DECISION OF WEST COAST CENTRE. The New Zealand cross-country championships will be held at Wanganui this year. The meeting was allocated the West Coast (N. 1. Centre, which last night at Hawera decided that Wanganui s application for the event should be granted. . The New Plymouth and Wanganui harrier clubs both applied for the gathering. The former said the course at New Plymouth was. very similar to that at the Hutt and that excellent arrangements could be made. The Wanganui club in making its application said the harriers’ latest conference endorsed Wanganui, where the championships we re held five years ago. Wanganui, could make complete arrangements. Mr A. Grant, chairman of the Centre, pointed out the good work done by . the Wanganui club in arranging for.a Centre team last- season and on his suggestion it was -decided to give Wanganui the meeting, with a recommendation that the next time the Centre had the championships they should be held at New PlyApproval was given the Wanganui club to join in the visit of the Australian tourists who would compete at Wanganui on March 15 or 16. ■ ■ , t , The New Zealand council advised that the centre’s delegate (Mr. A. Urquhart) had been appointed ,to the administration and reinstatements committee. It was decided that entries from subr centres for the centre championships should be received by the centre secrete Mr. F. Aisher (Palmerston North) was appointed starter for the championships and Mr. L. H. Clapham (Hawera) handicapper. Messrs. Aisher, C. Stagpoole (Palmerston North), G. Benson (Wanganui) and A. G. Whiting (Eltham) were appointed a selection committee for the New Zealand championship team.
