CONTINUANCE OF HEAVY RAIN
STORMS IN EASTERN AUSTRALIA. MELBOURNE’S STREETS FLOODED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Jan. 27. A further downpour, drenched the metropolitan area last, night and more rain and thunderstorms are expected today. The temperature yesterday reached 94.4 degrees and was 86 at 8 o’clockin the evening. A rain storm burst over Melbourne late yesterday. The streets were flooded to a depth of two feet in the low-lying parts. Lightning dislocated the electric systems of half a dozen suburban areas. The Ward and Langlo rivers are rising rapidly, states. a Brisbane message. Sheep are being removed from all the river frontages and low-lying country. The rain commenced last night.
