OPUNAKE CRICKET CLUB

SUCCESS OF ANNUAL BALL. The Opunake Cricket Club held its second annual ball in the Opunake Town Hall on Wednesday night. There was a good attendance, including many visitors. The.... hall was decorated with streamers of green and gold, the club’s colours. Music was supplied by Wills' orchestra from Hawera and extras were played by Mrs. C. Malcolm and Mr. J. Hooker. The supper arrangements were made by a ladies’ committee comprising Mesdames Jenkin, Griffin, Marcroft, Clare, Stephenson, Cruden, Mantey and Miss de Latour.

The waltzing competition for the West Coast championship was won by Miss Kerns and Mr. J. Mowatt, Manaia. Another competition ; was . won by Mr. W. Roach. ‘Dr, E. M. Griffin, president of the club, presented a silver cup to the winner of the waltzing competition. Mr. Cosgrave, Manaia, was judge of tire waltzing and Mr. C. Maindonald was master of ceremonies.
