CANTERBURY PRODUCE MARKETS. LITTLE BUSINESS BEING DONE. Christchurch, Last Night. Oats and ryc-grass continue to come forward in increasing quantities, but with the usual outlets showing no interest merchants are doing little business. Prices are tempting enough for speculation but the disposal side is more uncertain that it has been for years. Algerian/ oats are quoted at Is 3d to Is 5d on trucks and Gartons at Is 4d to Is 6d. There is a considerable amount of ryegrass on the market. Quotations are a shade easier than was previously quoted, being from Is 3d to Is 5d for Italian. An early sample or two may be expected within a week or ten days A little business has been done m spread fowl wheat at 3s 4d, f.o.b sacks extra. There has never been in the local trade a quieter January for forward potatoes than at present. The North Island is showing no interest and possibly will not until Pukekohe crops are nearer being cleared. Prices to faimers on trucks at Canterbury stations range from £2 to £2 .5s a ton. SYDNEY EXCHANGE QUIET. INVESTMENTS HOLD WELL. Rec. 9.30 p.m. Sydney, Jan. 27. The Stock Exchange was. quiet but firm.
