AUCKLAND JOCKEY KILLED
SUBSTATION FALLS IN TRAINING.

, Auckland, Jan. 26. ■ An apprentice jockey, Gerald Edwards, aged 18, attached to-the stables of P. E. Pope, Takanini, was killed this morning. He was riding Substation in company with Speedmint, when his mount stumbled and he was thrown to the ground. The horse fell on him, fracturing his skull. Death was instantaneous.
