DRESS REFORM
APPEAL TO EMPLOYERS.
The Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths) writes to the News:—
Sir, —The suggestion for the adoption of more suitable clothing for men during the hot weather has been most favourably received in New Plymouth and surrounding district, and many men who have already discarded the “heavy wear” for lighter, healthier and more comfortable clothing are loud in their appreciation, and have become staunch advocates of the reform. Innumerable enquiries have been received from employees who are anxious to break away from the “starch collar” brigade, provided no exception is taken by their employers, and I appeal to all heads of business firms and offices to give their sanction, believing that more comfortable dress in hot weather would result in more efficient service. I therefore suggest that all heads of firms willing to give their support to the dress reform movement to forward their names to fthe Daily News, and trust you could see your way to publish the list from time to time. I am, etc., H. VICTOR S. GRIFFITHS.
