MR. WOODWARD FAREWELLED
DEPARTURE FOR NEW PLYMOUTH.
NEW STIPENDIARY MAGISTRATE.

Wellington, Last Night.
A farewell presentation to Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., who is leaving for New Plymouth, was made by Lower Hutt and Petone law practitioners on the occasion of his last sitting at the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court. In reply Mr. Woodward said he had thoroughly enjoyed his association with the Bar in the Hutt and Petone. The attitude of that Bar approached the ideal of the estate to which he hoped the whole Bar would some day attain, when practitioners would become the natural arbiters of the community, possessing the confidence of the community to such an extent that persons having differences would leave them in the hands of lawyers to be settled, thus obviating the necessity for magistrates.
