WOMAN BANDIT DRIVER
£lOO WORTH OF JEWELS GRABBED.
A young woman drove a stolen car used by bandits who smashed the window of a London jeweller’s shop and got away with a tray of rings and watches valued at £lOO. The robbery was at the shop of Mr. Bartlett Heath, Wells Street, Hackney. People in the street , saw the car pull up outside the shop shortly after lunch. In it were the young woman, at the wheel, a man beside her, and another man in the rear seat. This man jumped out, walked to the window, smashed it by throwing at it a piece of concrete wrapped in a shawl, grabbed the tray and ran back to. the car, ..which the. woman drove off at a high speed. Mr. - Heath told the News-Chronicle that Mr. J.. Evans, the manager, was alone in the shop at the time. He heard the crash when the window was smashed, but by the time he reached the street the car was disappearing. Clear of Wells Street, the thieves drive half a mile to .Meynell Crescent, where they, got. out of the car and went away. The car was found.
