ENGINEER MISSING
EVE OF HIS WEDDING.
FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED.
London, Dec. 22.
Mr. Frederick McEwen, until -a few weeks ago third engineer ,on the P. and O. branch liner Ballarat, has disappeared on the eve of his wedding. Foul playis suspected. „ The Ballarat arrived in London on November 26, and McEwen, who is 30 x years of age, signed off and started preparations for his wedding in Brighton. He proposed purchasing a business, and came to London on December 12 to realise on stock and shares which he held. In a letter to his fiancee he said that he was returning the next/day, but has since disappeared. ■ r If he had realised' on his securities he would have had a considerable sum of money in his possession. Police are making every effort to trace him. ■ The Ballarat left Sydney in the middle of October for London.
