The British heavyweight champion, Jack Petersen, defeated the German Hans Schonrath, who retired in the eighth round of a bout at Cardiff. It was a fierce, two-handed fight. Petersen dominated, most of the rounds. Schonrath fought gamely, frequently penetrating the champion’s defences, but he tired under the terrific pace and heavy punishment.
