DEATH OF MRS. ROBERT LAW

EARLY SETTLER OF TARANAKI. A vei-y highly respected pioneer colonist, Mrs. Robert Law, died at Kaponga on Sunday. Mrs.. Law was born at Corgarff, Aberdeenshire, in 1858, married at the age of 20 and then in company with her husband made the journey to New Zealand and settled at Waverley in 1879. Remaining for 12 mor ths at Waverley, Mr. and Mrs. Law then took up land at Taiporohenui, near Hawera, which they farmed for 14 years. The remainder of Mrs. Law’s life was spent at “Bumside,” Kaponga. Mr. Law, who has a wide knowledge of sheep, is well known in the farming community as the importer and breeder of a particular strain of collie which has become much sought after throughout New Zealand. Mrs. Law was of a most unselfish disposition and will long be remembered for her courage, industry and hospitality. There can be no more fitting commentary to her well spent life than that found in the Book: “She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed.” Mrs. Law is survived by five daughters, three sons, 124 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Her daughters are Mrs. W. McKay (Ohura), Mrs. E. A. Collins (Te Kiri), Mrs. N. R. Cleland (Kohuratahi), Mrs. R. Sulzberger (Eltham) and Mrs. H. Stanners (Eltham). Her sons are Messrs R. A. Law (Kaponga), J. D. Law (Kohuratahi) and D. J. Law (Hauraki Plains).
