COASTAL MOVEMENTS. . The Holmglen arrived at New Plymouth from southern ports last night, and should sail to-day for Port Waikato, (Hooker Bros.). Tlte Opihi left Oamaru and Timaru on Wednesday for New Plymouth, via ports. She is due at New Plymouth about Sunday and will proceed later to Wellington and Dunedin to load for New Plymouth where she is due about January 9. (U.S.S. Co.). The Totara with 325 tons of coal arrived at New Plymouth on Wednesday morning. After discharge the vessel last night returned to Westport to load a further 220 tons for New Plymouth where. she is due about Sunday, following which she will proceed to Wellington. (U.S.S. Co.). The John is due at New Plymouth from Dunedin, via ports, about January 4. She will sail for Port ..Waikato, Wellington and Dunedin. (Hooker Bros.). The Hauturu arrived at New Plymouth on Wednesday with 200 tons of cargo to put out .and sailed for Wanganui later. Her weekly sailingon December 27 has been cancelled. The Hauturu will leave Onehunga for New. Plymouth on the first trip, of the New Year On January 6 being due the following day. (Northern Co.) The Nobel auxiliary ketch Miro left Greymouth on December 14 with 250 cases of explosives for New Plymouth. She is due here to-day and should sail later in the day for Auckland . (Master’sLtd.). MOVEMENTS OF OVERSEAS SHIPS. DEPARTURE OF PORT HUNTER. The 'Port Hunter, which has been discharging sulphur and loading 3800 boxes of butter and 5700 crates of cheese, left yesterday afternoon. From Wanganui the Port Hunter will' proceed to Napier, Auckland, Gisborne and Wellington, whence she will sail for England on January 14. RUAHINE LEAVES TO-DAY. The Ruahine, which, arrived from Nelson on Tuesday afternoon to load 10,000 boxes of butter, 15,000 crates of cheese and 16,200 freight carcases of meat at New Plymouth, will sail for Auckland this afternoon. From Auckland the vessel will proceed to Wellington to complete her cargo. She is scheduled to clear Wellington for London, via Panama, on January 6. ' DATES AND LOADINGS. Further dates and loadings announced by shipping company agents for vessels calling at New Plymouth are: Port Caroline (Collett and Co.), January 16, 10,700 freight carcases of meat; Tamaroa (Newton King Ltd.), January 19, 12,000 boxes of butter, 9000 crates of cheese; Northumberland (U.S.S. Co.), January 7, loading not yet allocated; Surrey (U.S.S. Co.), January 30, not yet allocated. There are also the Pakeha and Tara'naki due on January 10 and January 7 respectively. WHISTLING BUOY. The Marine Department advises that the lighted whistling buoy about a mile eastward of Godley Head lighthouse, broke adrift on Monday, but has been recovered. As soon as possible its position will be marked by an unlighted can buoy until the light buoy is replaced. MAHANA SAILS FOR ENGLAND. Having completed homeward loading, the Shaw, Savill steamer Mahana left Wellington on Wednesday night for London via the Panama Canal and Kingston. The ’ Mahana loaded at New Plymouth in the first week in December. PORT CAROLINE TO LOAD. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Caroline is due at New Plymouth from Australia oh January 16 to commence loading in New Zealand. Her loading ports are New Plymouth, Gisborne, Wellington, Bluff, Port Chalmers -and Lyttelton. She is scheduled to clear Lyttelton for London on February 6. TAMAROA LEAVES BALBOA. The Shaw, Savil and Albion liner Tamaroa cleared Balboa on Saturday in continuation of her t voyage to New Zealand. She is due at Wellington on January 4 and at New Plymouth on January 19.
