TO HOSPITAL BY AIR
GISBORNE TO AUCKLAND.
PATIENT AND A NURSE. Auckland, Dec. 21. Less than three hours after he was placed in the cabin of the Auckland Aero Club’s Puss Moth at Gisborhe yesterday, a. farmer who was seriously ill was admitted, to an Auckland private hospital. He was Mt. George Witters, aged 56, married, of Woodlands, Gisborne. He was accompanied on the journey by a Gisbonje nurse, Sister Robertson. At an early hour this morning his condition was unchanged. Piloted by Captain J, D. Hewett, the machine left Auckland at 5.40 a.m.. and was flown direct to Gisborne, where it arrived at 7.55. The patient was taken to the landing field by motor-car. He was made comfortable in, one of the passengers’ seats of the Puss Moth, the journey to Auckland, being commenced at 9.10. Flying conditions were ideal and the patient was quite comfortable. The trip to Mangere w'as made in two hours, a quarter of an hour less than the downward flight Mr. Witters was transported by motor-car from the aerodrome to the hospital, which was reached less than three hours after the departure from Gisborne.
