RESULTS FOR NOVEMBER. SMALL LOSS OF GROUND. Wellington, Dec. 15. A result slightly less favourable than that for the corresponding period last year . 'is shown by the railway working accounts for the four weeks ended November 12. The working profit was £18,922 as against £25,738 last year. The gross receipts for the four weeks were. £413,325, a decrease of £25,001, while expenses were £394,403, a decline of £18,185. The decline in revenue is strikingly smaller than that of £71,415 which the November period last year showed in comparison with ( 1930-31. On the other hand a reduction of expenses amounting to £99,524 was recorded last year against only £18,185 for the latest period; The net result from railway operation alone' was a loss of £5196 as against a surplus of £BlO last year. . Earnings by the North Island railways ‘ amounted to £224,871, a deCline of £19,260, and expenses to £213,980, a reduction of £13,990. There was a reduction in the net profit from £16,161 to £10,891. Receipts on the South Island railways were £138,846, a decrease of £4584, and expenses £154,933, a decrease of £3848. The working loss of £16,087 was greater bv £736 than last year. . "Net. miscellaneous revenue amounted to £24,118, showing an increase of . £2190. - For the period from April 1 to November 12 the net revenue was £209,859 as against £194,381 last year. The gross revenue was £3,444,957, a decline of £283 705. The expenditure was £3,185,098 compared with £3,534,281, a decrease of £349,183.
