AN APPEAL. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Some 300 to 400 families in and around New Plymouth will be' without meat for Christmas unless some 25 sheep or pigs are made. available for distribution amongst these families. Last year supplies were made available through the Government, but this year supplies are riot available. At this time of the year in particular the generosity of people are experiencing the meat revery hopeful that notwithstanding the difficult time farmers and business people are experiencing that the meat required will be forthcoming to ensure as far as possible all families having a Christmas dinner. The matter has been put before the secretary of the Farmers' Union (Mr. Dan Morgan) and he has very willingly agreed to co-operate in the movement. It would be necessary for the sheep or cattle to be at the local abattoir not later than Wednesday of next week so that distribution could be made on the following Friday. Only specially needy cases would be taken care of ' arid the distribution will be in the hands of the New Plymouth Relief Association. The need is a very real one, and any person who is willing to help is asked to communicate immediately with Mr. Dan Morgan, New Plymouth (’phone 768), Rev. .
