CALLED TO BAR OF HOUSE

MEMBER TENDERS APOLOGY. INCIDENT IN QUEENSLAND. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Brisbane, Dec. 15. In the Assembly Mr. E. Maher appeared at the bar of the House to answer a charge of having assaulted Mr. Llewellyn. The Speaker read a letter from Mr. Maher in which he tendered a full apology to the House and to Mr. Llewellyn. The latter said he would accept some of the blame and offered an apology for using certain words. The matter was then allowed to drop. A member of the Assembly assaulted another while the House was in session. This is the first incident of its kind in the history of the Queensland Parliament. While in committee, Mr. Llewellyn (Labour) said that Mr, E. Maher (Country Party) had a filthy mind, whereupon Mr. Maher walked across the Chamber and struck Mr. Llewellyn in the face.
