In this model he believes a stout fourteen-year-old boy will be able to fly without an engine. “I have tried,” Hatzoglon said, “to realise Icarus’ dream, and have found a formula which has permitted me to solve the problem of auto-propulsion. By this method man will at last be able to fly by the sole power of his muscles, mechanically increased.

“Man can create on a bicycle a force of a half-hors<s power. My ‘anemopeteron’ creates a force of 8 h,p. It will mount up to 12,000 feet and the pilpt will be able to glide for three hours without moving the foot-levers.” Hatzoglon’s ’plane weighs 45Q pounds, including pilot. Dangers of starting and landing are neutralised, he believes, because they will be performed, at a Speed of only ten miles an hour,,..
