KENT ROAD-KORITO NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The ladies of the Kent Road-Korito sewing guild held their final meeting for this year at Mrs. Parker’s residence. The afternoon was devoted to the making of toys, etc., for the New Plymouth district , nurse to distribute among the needy children in the town at Christmas. A good collection of toys resulted at the end .. of the afternoon’s work, including dressed kewpies and dolls of many descriptions with humorous faces, and several knitted toys. Sympathy was expressed with the relatives of the late Mrs. W. Olson, Egmbnt Village, and those present stood as a mark, of respect. Sister Gill arrived from New Plymouth, bringing with her Mrs. H. V. S. Griffiths and Mrs. Avery. The calf-judging took place last week at the Korito school As the charts are yet to be corrected the winners have not yet been ascertained. For dairy type Monica Miller came first, .Doris Weston second and Oma Peters third. Others who reared calves were Iris Berber, Loma Ashman and John Keast. Three lambs were judged, Tommy Uncles being first, Doris Weston second and Betty Weston third. The judges remarked how very well the calves led compared with those at some schools. , ' <
