SHOW UNDER REVIEW

CHAIRMAN OF SECTIONS MEET, v

EXPRESSIONS OF SATISFACTION. General satisfaction with the conduct of the recent show was expressed and suggestions to overcome any minor difficulties that arose were offered when the chairmen of sections of the Stratford A. and P. Association met under the presidency of Mr. A. David on Tuesday night. Present were: Messrs. W. Pettigrew, A. D. Walker, J. W. Boon, H. W. Hancock, A. H. R. Amess, K. Tarrant, H. C. Johnson, J. W. Crowe, A. W. Brieseman, W. Johnson, H. A. Hunt, S. Gadsby, E. Bayly, J. Parish and A. H. Bovjen. As chairman of the cattle section Mr. Betts said the work was carried through without difficulty and he was given splendid assistance by the stewards. He suggested that the cattle paddocks be subdivided into four so that the larger exhibitors could have separate fields for their entries. That would obviate any chance of injury to the stock. An extension of the loading bank was a matter that could be reviewed by the executive. Breeders of Milking Shorthorns had asked that the class for yearling heifers, which was deleted owing to lack of .support, be reinstated. Mr. Bayly, chairman of ■ the horse section, remarked upon the value of the enlarged oval, which facilitated the organisation of the trotting races and gave ample room for judging. The steers were slow in coming out, but that was due to the poor accommodation for the animals. To make the event successful would entail altering the yard and fencing it to keep the public at a distance. . The fact that riders in the horse events did not wear the armlets with class numbers was commented on, and Mr. Amess suggested that a loud speaker be installed in the ring to announce the riders as they rode.

Mr. Parish supported the proposal and said the same trouble was experienced with the steer-riding. The public could not tell from the catalogue who was riding. He thought the executive should consider whether the event was justified seeing that it cost £2O to stage. Mr. Boon, who was in charge of the gates, said little trouble was experienced and there was ample room for the parking of cars, ■Everything in the sheep section was conducted smoothly, the new yards having proved a boon' to everyone concerned, Mr. Bowen stated. He proposed that the stud sheep be carted to and from the station.

Mr. J. Parish remarked upon the large number of entries in the pig section and urged that increased accommodation be provided. The present quarters were far too Incited and inefficient for the purpose, he said. Mr. Amess had nothing adverse to report of the school or home industries sections. Entries were good and the judges gave entire satisfaction as had been the case in the past. -

The cow-judging competition produced good entries and the standard- of the work was excellent, said Mr. H. C. Johnson. . ' ... Mr. Crowe expressed satisfaction with the results at the luncheon rooms in view of the fact that the afternoon tea charge was reduced from Is 6d to Is. The workers gave splendid help. No trouble was experienced with the conduct of the kiosk, Mr. Brieseman stated. HILL-CLIMBING TEST. ■- . \ GOOD ENTRIES FOR TO-DAY.
