MR. MACDONALD’S HEALTH
“DANGER OF BREAKDOWN” RUMOURS REVIVED IN LONDON “CONSERVATIVE CABINET’’ MR. CHAMBERLAIN LEADER By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 11.25 p.m. London, Nov. 22. Rumours have been revived as to the state of Mr. Ramsay MacDonald’s health. The Daily Herald’s special representative says the Prime Minister’s closest friends are advising a sea voyage; Otherwise there is danger of a breakdown and his resignation and the National Government’s being substituted by a Conservative Government with Mr. Neville Chamberlain (Chancellor of the Exchequer) and not Mr. Stanley Baldwin (Lord President of the Council) as leader. Mr. Baldwin is opposed to a break in the present Cabinet. Mr. MacDonald, who is 65 years of age, recently suffered serious eye trouble and had an enforced reSt. On his return to London his doctors were satisfied with his condition and he was permitted to resume work. Mr. MacDonald has been Prime Minister since June, 1929. In consequence of a sudden crisis in financial affairs he formed the National Government in August last year and became its head.
