VESSEL LEAVES UNLOADED

WATERSIDERS REFUSE MEAT CARGO TASMANIA IDLE FOR TWO DAYS. The loading of meat carcases from the Waitara freezing works was refused by waterside workers at New Plymouth again yesterday. The steamer Tasmania, which arrived on Sunday from Sydney direct to load 8000 freight carcases, left for Wanganui last night without her consignment of produce. Both watersiders and crew refused to load the meat on Monday, and the New Plymouth branch of the agent company telegraphed headquarters for instructions. A call for labour was made again yesterday, but there was no change in the position of the previous day and the vessel sailed about 6 o’clock. The New Plymouth Waterside Workers’ Union held a meeting at 8 o’clock yesterday morning. No statement was made regarding the discussion, but proceedings Were accompanied by frequent handclapping. It is understood there were present unionists from the Waitara works.
