GAOL SUPERINTENDENT SHOT
ANOTHER INDIAN OUTRAGE. POLICE MAKE TWO ARRESTS. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 6.30 p.m. Calcutta, Nov. 19., Mr. Charles Luke, superintendent of Rajshahi gaol, was shot near the gaol compound to-day while driving his wife and daughter. Three bullets struck Mr. Luke, who was sent to hospital. His assailants escaped. Several houses were later searched and two arrests were made. One of the assailants threw a cycle in front of Mr. Luke’s car, causing him to stop. Others then fired three shots, one fracturing Mr. Luke’s jaw, but later he pluckily drove the car home, where/he collapsed. He is now progressing.
