FREEZING WORK'S DISPUTE

WAITARA POSITION UNCHANGED.

Rumours that have been freely circulated that union workers would be returning to the Waitara freezing works this week are not founded on fact, stated the president of the union, Mr. T. B. Ewens, at Waitara last night. Mr. Ewens had had no advice from Wellington concerning any settlement, and the position remained unchanged. Similarly there has been no develops ments in the employment of the free labourers at the works. There are approximately 100 now engaged, of whom over 80 are housed and fed on the works property. None of them, it was ascertained yesterday, were giving up their jobs. Work was proceeding normally.
