MADE IN NEW ZEALAND.—First of the new “K” engines built at the Hutt Railway Workshops. “K900" underwent successful trials at Wellington on Thursday when this photograph was taken. Desined to give greater efficiency in fuel and running costs, this powerful locomotive is almost entirely New Zealand-made. With the exception of a few special fittings, every part of its 136 tons was manufactured from raw materials in the department’s workshops.
