NEGLIGENCE CAUSE'S DEATH
MOTOR DRIVER PUNISHED.
LOSS OF WIFE SUFFERED.

Invercargill, Last Night. In the Supreme Court to-day John Reid Keown was found guilty of negligently driving a motor-car at Otamata on September 7, thereby causing the death of Matilda Keown, his wife. The ■jury made a -strong recommendation to mercy. ’ His Honour said that Keown had already been greatly punished by the loss of his wife, and he proposed to give effect in full measure to the jury’s recommendation. His Honour fined Keown f 25 and suspended his present driver’s license, which expires on. May 31 next, and declared him to be disqualified from obtaining a further license for five years after that date.
