Metal for the Ohura roads conies chiefly from the Mangaroa stream, though some has been brought from Tarangamohu. There is also metal m the Waitawhenua district and on the Wero Road. ’ Fifty men are now employed in a camp opening up, metal pits at Sandilands for metalling the Tokirima South Road. For years the Ohura County Council has had men prospecting without success for indication? of metal. This year the farmers of the district did the prospecting themselves, and found plenty of metal. Mr. G. Dennison, chairman of_ the Ohura County Council, is of the opinion that the most important road to the Ohura county will be the Okau Road, connecting with the Taranaki coast. Mr. G. Dennison, chairman of the Ohura County Council, takes a very active part in all local institutions, in-, eluding the Ohura Domain Board, hall" trustees, Hospital Association, Hospital Board, Farmers’ Union, etc.
