A GOOD OPENING
DAIRY PRODUCE EXPORT SEASON. HEAVY AUGUST SHIPMENTS. The dairy produce export season has opened well, shipments of butter and cheese last month being more than double those for. August, 1931. There has been a firming in prices on the London market, which is maintained this week. Shipments of butter last month were 8171 tone, an increase of 4867 tons over August, 1931, 68 pe; cent, being consigned and 32 per cent, sold f.o.b. Cheese shipments last month were 5257 tons, an increase of 2744 tons on August, 1931. Details of the shipments compare as follow:—
Shipments of butter to Britain from Australia last month were 4977 tons, as against 3336 tons in August, 1931, an increase of 1641 tons. Cheese shipments were 198 tons, as compared with 199 tons. Argentine butter shipments to Britain last month were 775 tons, as against 355 tons in August, 1931, an increase of 420 tons.
