Four chargee of failing to furnish returns of income were admitted by R. W. McTavisli, a jockby, in the Police Court <t Auckland oil Friday; Counsel for th® prosecution eaid defendant had neglected to.advise th® department of hie income during the past four years, although he was liable to taxation. It Was not suggested that he had deliberately-evaded hid Obligations. It was explained by counsel for tho defence that defendant had no intention of defrauding the department and he had immediately’ filled ill and returned, the necessary forma when requested to do so. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, imposed a fine.of £2 and costs on each of two charges,’ and' entered convictions without penalties on the remaining counts. i
