CHIEF RACE TO WAR PAINT LOUIS BINGEN SPRING HANDICAP. KELP BEAT'S GOOD CLASS FIELD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Sept. S. The spring meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club was held to-day in fine weather. There was a fair attendance and the track was in good order. In the Improvers’ Handicap Honora Bingen took charge at the end of. a furlong and won very easily. Raclaim broke in the first furlong, but by the time a round had been covered she had worked her way into third place. Just when promising to catch the leader she made another bad break.

After being well placed Craganour drew to the front and won the Belfast Handicap very easily. Plain Silk would have been second, but for making a bad .break half a furlong from home. Hard Words went a good race. In the Burwood Handicap "War Paint took the lead at the end of five furlongs and remained in front to win easily. Silver de Oro paced a good race to finish second. Nimbus was third half a mile from home, but he could not come on. Netta Oro paced gamely to secure third place. Dark Girl registered an exceptionally easy win in the .Seaview Handicap. Beginning smartly she was eight lengths clear with, a mile to go. She never appeared in danger of being caught, winning easing up. War Bird made up a good deal of ground going along the back and did well to finish second. Betty Wrack declined to leave. In a hot finish Tempest beat Great Chenault by half a head in the Dash Handicap. Both horses were favourably placed from the start and fought out a ding-dong tussle for first money. Lord Matchlight Was also always well placed. Louis Bingen- took charge at the end of three furlongs in the Seaview Handicap, where he remained to win very easily. Stanley Bingen spoilt a good start by making two bad breaks, and Our Bingen lost ground by faulting two furlongs from home. When Kelp won the Wainoni Handicap the crowd gave him a rousing reception. Pronto Bingen made the running for seven furlongs,* but could'not withstand the strong challenge from Dillon Logan and Kelp, the latter having his head in front at the post.
