RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL
MATCH AT NEW PLYMOUTH. The proposed visit of two Auckland Rugby League teams to play an exhibition match at New Plymouth on Saturday was discussed at a meeting of tho Auckland Rugby League last week. Mr. StMlworthy said two club teams from Auckland would visit Taranaki, but it was not definitely known which clubs were available.
Several delegates said the suggestion that the Mar is t and City Clubs should play the match Was premature. Mr. R. Doble said no definite arrangements had teen made with the Auckland Rugby League, Whose competition would not .permit a postponement should City or Marist be included in the Roope Rooster final. He suggested that the teams eliminated on Saturday should fee invited to Visit 'New Plymouth. ■'
Mr. iVST. J. Davidson raised objection to that proposal, as only the best club teams should re-introdUce the game into New Plymouth.
Mr. W. 0. Carlaw read a letter from the Devonport Club Which stated the club was prepared to make the trip. It was eventually decided to postpone any further arrangements until th© conclusion of 'Saturday’s matches, when 'club delegates would be invited to discuss the question with the council.
