k SHIPS STILL IDLE AT PATEA. REPLY from the federation. Watersiders at Patoa have refused to handle cargoes owned by the South Taranaki Shipping Company until the labourers discharged by the West Coast Refrigerating Company are reinstated. Five men, employees of the latter company, which is operated jointly with the shipping company, were discharged on their refusal to unload general cargo from the m.v. Hawera. The secretary of the Pa tea watersiders, Mr. C. H. Christiansen, who telegraphed Mr. J. Roberts, Wellington, secretary of the Watersiders’ Federation, has received the following reply from Mr. Roberts: “Congratulate your men, who have the full support of the federation.”
