ACTIVITIES OF W.D.F.U.

INGLEWOOD BRANCH MEETING. 'The Inglewood branch of the Women's Division held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, when Mrs. Marsh presided over a poor attendance. The president moved a vote of sympathy to Mrs. W. Bennet in-the loss of her father, which was carried in silence. As the result of a letter 'being received from the secretary of th a Methodist Church trustees intimating that they will in future reserve the hall for church or religious meetings only, it was decided that future W.D. and Junior meetings be held in the Parish hall. The president appealed for clothing for a necessitous family, giving, ages for guidance, and reported having despatched a box of books to Matau on August 9. " ' K At the request of the Dominion book club 'headquarters it was decided to hold a “book rally.” It was also announced that the plant exchange would continue to operate. After reporting that in response to a call for a housekeeper on July 28 a division housekeeper arrived for duty on July 29, Mrs. Marsh gave the details of conference and the Dominion president’s address. She announced that Mrs. Bennet’s scheme for a local “exchange” had materialised. Twenty home-made animal toys were handed in and Mrs. Moir offered to deliver them to the New Plymouth hospital. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Bennet and Frederickson.
