No polo team of white men can hope to defeat first-class Indians and the same applies to cricket, £ • Arbuthnot contends. In additiSh to food, habits and exercise the factor playing the greatest part in obtaining the most rapid and prolonged body functioning is exposure to the sun. Sir Arbuthnot instances France’s climatic advantages, of which the feat of the tennis player Borotra is a great example. Nevertheless England, in .spite of her climate, possesses, he says, many notable veteran , athletes, the principal of whom is Hobbs, who, at 49, is still England’s most reliable batsman.
