FORMER VICTORIAN PREMIER.
BRIEF VISITS TO CONFERENCE.
Ottawa, Aug. 9.
Mr. E. J. Hogan, former Labour Premier of Victoria, has arrived at Ottawa and will remain a week, sailing from Vancouver by the Aorangi on September 13. He looks better and says that his health has improved, Although ihe has not completely recovered, he has undoubtedly benefited by the trip. He declines to discuss his plans after returning to Australia, or Victorian politics. He said that he came to see the conference at first hand, hoping to bo of assistance to Australia. He interviewed Mr. S. M. Bruce, leader of the Australian delegation, to-day. Sir Granville Ryrie, Australian High Commissioner, passed through Montreal and Toronto, homeward bound. He did not leave the train at Ottawa. A small group of Australians were surprised to meet Sir Granville at Toronto. He likewise was uncommunicative as to future plans. Mr. A. C. Willis, New South Wales AgentGeneral in London, made a fleeting appearance in the Chateau lobbies when most of the delegates were absent at Niagara. He immediately disappeared westward.
