FOUR PERSONS ADMIT GUILT LENIENCY FOR REMEF WORKER. PROBATION FOR TWO YOUTHS, By Telegraph.—Press ABWei«tlCßWellington, Last Night. Pleas of guilty were entered by four defendants who appeaJed before M . EPage, S-M., charged with theft. A vouth of 17 was admitted to probation. The charge against him wa« that pl stealing two headlamps, two, side lamps and a tail lamp from a motor-car which had been partially destroyed by fire. William Lawson Duckett,, a married relief worker with. two children, was ordered to come up if called upon within twelve months for stealing some timber valued at 5s 6d, which he took for firewood from a vacant section- xhe owner put in a letter asking foi leniency and saying he did not want to put in a claim for the value of tho wood. Edward Thomas Holloway, aged 33, a labourer with a long list, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment tor , stealing a suitcase at parawera. Albua William Charles Thomas, aged 17. a cook, who was found .to haye stolen a handbag from a showroom in Molosworth Street and also a wailet and about £2 17s in money, was admitted to probation for twelve months.
