SUBSIDENCE AT ARAPUNI
REMEDIAL MEASURES PLANNED. CLOSING DOWN IMPROBABLE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Aug. 5. The latest news from Arapuni indicates that notwithstanding tho development of a small sudsidence at the top of the tiled portion of the headrace the temporary closing of the station will not be necessary. . Mr. F. W. Furkert and Mr. Kissell, of the Public Works Department, who arrived yesterday afternoon, left again to« plane for Wellington. They adhere to wards mid-day for Te Awamutu to take their opinion that remedial measures can be applied without dewatering the lieadIn the meantime the Auckland Power Board’s standby plant has feteam up in readiness to take over the load if necessary.
