DOUBLE MOTORING MISHAP
CARS SKID IN SNOWBOUND ROAD. THREE MEN SEVERELY SHAKEN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night. Mr. D. M. Ford, traffic inspector for the Rotorua Borough Council, had a gruelling experience on Thursday, and Friday. After his own car had skidded on the snowbound road near Tarawera and toppled over a steep bank a taxi was sent to bring hjni to Rotorua the following day. The taxi also skidded, striking a bank and bursting into flame. Mr. Ford had with him in his own car a passenger, ■ Mr. Hugh Galbraith, who had one hand bound up owing to a severe scald. Mr. Ford was knocked unconscious and when, he recovered, despite an injury to his back, he had to extricate Mr. Galbraith and then secure a lift in a lorry to the Tarawera Hotel. A taxi was seat from Rotorua, but soon after leaving Tarawera it skidded, striKing a bank, bursting into flames and being completely destroyed. Mr. Ford then secured another lift, and after walking three miles secured help at Taupo, where a lorry was sent, to bring in Mr. Galbraith and the di iver of the taxi, Mr. A. Ballister. The three men were severely shaken and affected by the intense cold, but they are making a good recovery.
