SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. (FrOm Our Own Correspondent.) At the Rahotu euchre party On Monday evening there were over eight tables and (Mrs. R. Morgan won the ladies’ first prize and Miss Langton the second. Mr. P. Burns received the men’s first and Mr. D. Paton the second prize. There are three more evenings' to end the series. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wright have just returned from a holiday tour, having gone as far afield as Gisborne, Mr. J. Schinkle driving them •overland. Both ate much benefited by the change. Mrs. Kitchenman, eenr., and Mies Shepherd are staying with Mrs. 'Colmer, who has been ill but is liriw on the mend. A surprise coinirig-of-rige parly took place at .the residence bf Miss McGregor, in honour of her niece, Miss Muriel McGregor, on Wednesday evening. About 30 friends assembled, many bringing gifts and wishing her “many happy returns of the day.” A pleasant time Was Spent with music, songs and games. Quite a number of farmers in this district are contemplating the building of cottages undei* the Government relief scheme. Mr. R. Laxton lifts returned, but Mrs. Luxton and their infant are still aWay in the Waikato staying with her people. Rain is mrich needed in the district, many having their tanks empty, Which is most unusual for this month of the year. Frosts are still occurring. Miss Williams is Visiting het parents in this district. Miss Castles is staying with her-brother. A euchre party arid dance were held last night as a compliment to the ladies who so kindly helped to make the sports rind the sports dance a success.
