RESIDENT OF. TE AROHA., STRIKING SUCCESS CLAIMED. For the past two and a half yearsWharepapa ‘Ngakura, of Te’ Aroha, lias been exercising a healing power to the apparent benetit of a large number oi sufferers’, writes the Auckland Stars cot• respondent. He first found he had what may be termed a magnetic power, in 1930, and in. that year he spent a. considerable amount of time at Rotorua relieving the physical ailments of what he terms “my own people.” Cases-., treated are those of neuritis, sciatica, rheumatism, deafness, paralysis anu impaired eyesight. It is asserted that in every instance success attended, th ? laying on of hands by Ngakura—whether by reason of an act of faith, or magnetic power has not been detet* mined.
• In 1931 Ngakura paid a long visit tv Hawke’s Bay, where he treated, a large number of cases, including many that, were previously believed to be incurable. Although he has journeyed many hundreds of miles to use ■ his power he seeks no reward for his services, being of the opinion that:if he accepted payment his gift of power would leave him. In Te Aroha he . has treated, apparently successfully, well known cases of stuttering, partial deaf- • ness, weak eyesight, sciatica, rheumatism and internal hermorrhage. Ngakura’s methods are simple.
