DAIRYING AT MANGATOKI

PAY-OUT OVER ONE SHILLING.

SAVINGS IN MANUFAGTUNE.

The 32nd annual report of the Mangatoki Dairy Company states:—The total payments for the season 1930-31 amounted to 11.48 d per lb butter-fat. The payment for the year covered by these accounts is estimated at 12.1 d per 4b but L ter-fat. Costs to f.o.b. ocean steamer are .Id per lb butter-fat higher than last year, due to the fact that the output was 500 tons of cheese greater this season. Wages, fuel, maintenance and cartage charges, which come directly under the control of the management, have been reduced by £6OO in spite of the larger quantity of cheese made. The output was consigned and the returns compare favourably with those of other factories. The directors recommend the payment of 5 per cent, interest on paidup capital, which will absorb £1360, or .2d per lb butter-fat. The directors regret to record the death of the general manager, Mr. George Woods, who filled the position for two and a-half years. His death has caused a distinct loss, not only to this company, but to the whole industry. Mr. J. L. Taylor has been appointed to the vacancy. After the death of Mr. Woods, the n agement of the main branch and the supervision of the supply of stores and requisites for the whole of the company was undertaken by Mr. F. W. Seamark, who carried out his onerous duties in a manner most creditable to himself, and to the entire satisfaction of the board. The retiring ‘ directors, Messrs Free, Kemp and McCormack, again offer their services.
