DEACON—NEWPORT.

Bertha Cecilia, second daughter of Mr. G. Newport, Pungarehu, was at the Pungarehu Catholic Church on July 27 married to Fredrick John, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Deacon, Warea. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Kennedy. The church was decorated by friends of the bride. : The bride entered the church escorted by her father. She wore a white satin frock relieved with silver and pearls and carried a sheaf of lilies, lhe veil was lent by Mrs. W. Smith. Miss Joan Newport, sister of the. bride, attended as bridesmaid. She was attired in a frock of pink satin, with hat, shoes and stockings to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, freesias and maidenhair fern. Mr. Samuel Jones was best man, ine Wedding March was played by Miss B. Gilhooly. The bridesgroom’s present to the bridesmaid was a gold armlet. . A reception was held in St. Patrick .. Hall, Opunake, where about 40 guests were entertained. The guests were received by the mother, who wore a navy blue c repe de chine frock relieved with fawn. Mrs. G. Julian, Warea, aunt of the bride, wore a brown ensemble. They both carried posies ot violets, daphne and maidenhair fern. Mr. and Mrs. Deacon left by car for the north, the bride travelling In a green frock with nigger brown coat, hat, shoes and stockings to tone.
